Love Jones (1997)

One of the landmark late 90s African-American romantic dramedies, Love Jones (1997) emphasis on the jazz and spoken word poetry scene makes it feel slightly dated, but the poignant love story between Darius (Larenz Tate) and Nina (Nia Long) makes the film timeless. Talented poet Darius meets even more talented photographer Nina at a poetry slam in Chicago and over the course of a year, fall in and out of love with one another as they attempt to reconcile their difficult pasts with a hopeful future together. The film's bittersweet tone spills over into its nude content, which is non-existent, though a shirtless Larenz Tate cooking eggs is a highlight of the four non-nude sexy scenes he has in the flick!
