We’re hooked on Mackenzie Crook! The offbeat Englishman is a comedian, character actor, director and writer. Needless to say, he wears a lot of hats — even when shedding his threads to entertain us! Mackenzie first grabbed the attention of fans via the original version of The Office (2001-2003). His bird-like nose and big eyes made him perfect for the part of the hilariously awkward office dork. Perhaps that’s why Mack nabbed a National Comedy Award nomination for Best Comedy Newcomer. Later, Crook was nominated for a SAG for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. No, the nod wasn’t for his clothing; it was for his 2013 turn in Game of Thrones. The prolific performer could also be seen in Little Dorrit (2008), Skins (2009), and Britannia (2018-present). If that’s not impressive enough, Crook took on the title role in Worzel Gummidge (2019-2021) which he wrote and directed. The same can be said for Detectorists (2014-2017) which earned the writer/director/star BAFTAs for Best Writing in a Comedy Series and Best Situation Comedy! Film accolades came when Mackenzie was nominated for an Empire Award for Best Newcomer for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003). Crook re-teamed with Johnny Depp for Finding Neverland (2004) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006). Next came the comedy Three and Out (2008) featuring Colm Meaney, Gemma Arterton, and Mack’s naked T&A! No wonder Mr. Crook stole Mr. Man’s heart — along with another part of his anatomy!
