Mr. Man would need a gross of lotion to grease down Michael Gross. Standing at 6’ 3”, the Chicago native is his own skyscraper — and wouldn’t we want to see his Hancock building! After graduating from the University of Illinois with a BA degree, Mike earned an MFA from Yale University School of Drama. Since then, the prolific performer has been racking up credits on stage (Bent); on film (Big Business, Stay Cool, Noelle); and on TV (ER, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, How I Met Your Mother, The Young and the Restless). In 1982, he won an Obie award for his performance in No End of Blame and was cast as Steven Keaton on the NBC hit sitcom Family Ties. (1982-1989). Gross reprised the role for the TV movie Family Ties Vacation (1985) and the animated show Family Guy (2011). Since then, he could be heard on the cartoon series Dan Vs. (2011-2013) and seen alongside Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda in the Netflix comedy Grace & Frankie (2015-2016). Of course, he’s best known as survivalist Burt Gummer in the humorous monster movies Tremors (1990), Tremors 2: Aftershocks (1994), Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001), Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004), Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell (2018), and Tremors: Shrieker Island (2020). We especially enjoy the actor’s scantily-clad turn in Tremors 5: Bloodlines (2015). The direct-to-video features Jamie Kennedy, Ian Roberts, and Michael’s bare chest!
