Home to some of the most iconic, memorable, hilarious, controversial, and downright sexy good times dating back to 1984, the MTV Video Music Awards are nothing short of a more fun version of every other awards show combined.  Take the prestige of the Oscars, the talent of the Grammys, the blood alcohol level of The Golden Globes, roll them up into one award ceremony that has wall to wall epic music performances and smoke it, that is the vibe of the VMAs dating back to the very first one, when Madonna crawled across the stage wearing a wedding dress and bustier singing "Like a Virgin".  We've seen Peter Gabriel take home every award for Sledgehammer in 1987, Prince show off his cheeks in a yellow mesh butt-less get-up while sexing up the stage in 1991, and the infamous awkward Michael Jackson/Lisa Marie Presley stand ovation "make out session" in 1994.  Around 2001 though, the award that started as a popularity nod for cool music videos started to gain serious steam in the music industry as a whole, when video budgets exploded into feature film production costs and the "Moonman" showed that you were the next big superstar on the rise!  You had Britney with a white boa around her neck, Taylor Swift getting interrupted by Kanye, Justin Timberlake sweeping the awards like Peter Gabriel with his video for Mirrors, and Beyoncé announcing she was pregnant for the first time on the Red Carpet with Jay-Z's baby...  This award ceremony has not only done it all, it has done it every year now in 4 different decades, with Lil Nas X bringing the sexiest performance in years to the stage in 2021 with more boy toys than you can handle!
