That's right, you heard that correctly. The next movie installment of the Bridget Jones's Diary series began filming last week, and Sir Patrick Dempsey himself is joining the squad of awkward British characters we all know and love. The only problem? Hugh Grant, who plays the slimy Daniel Cleaver in the other two films, will not be returning. Booooo.
This installment in the series, called Bridget Jones's Baby, doesn't follow the same plot as Helen Fielding's books, per seinstead, it fills the gap between the last book/movie, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, and the third book, Mad About the Boy. Notably, Bridget is preggo in this movie. We have no idea who the father is, but between Grant and Firth, she really can't go wrong.
Because there's no book to look to for the film's plot, we have absolutely no idea who Dempsey's character is. Is he playing Shazza's husband? Is he a playing a random DILF? More importantly, will he join Zellwegger and Firth in a scintillating threesome?
We may not have Hugh, but this'll do.
