Small Island (2009)

Based on the novel of the same name by Andrea Levy, the two-part BBC One drama Small Island (2009) tells the story of the displaced population of Jamaican immigrants as they try to find their way during and after World War II. In an attempt to forge a life for themselves, the Jamaicans leave the titular location and head to England, the country that many of the immigrants represented on the battlefields. In complete ignorance of their contributions to the Mother Country, many of the immigrants face cold shoulders from the newfound neighbors. The wandering war heroes stories are told through the eyes of four characters: Hortense (Naomie Harris), a teacher that weds Gilbert (David Oyelowo) out of convenience rather than love; Queenie (Ruth Wilson), a liberal-minded landlady of Hortense and Gilbert that marries the sexless Bernard (Benedict Cumberbatch) to escape her parents’ home. Sounds like fun? Well, the fun really begins when David Oyelowo removes his shirt, showing off his ab-tastic physique. Also, Ashley Waters teases a look at his tail as he drills his lady in bed. Mr. Man would love to have some island fun with these dudes!
