Summer of 8 (2016)

From the riotous American sex comedy Summer Camp (1979) to the gay French flick Summer of 85 (2021), fans love summer movies — especially when they feature sexy hunks such as brainy Mark Harmon in Summer School (1987) and sporty Freddie Prinze Jr. in Summer Catch (2001). Plus, who can resist vacationing with Peter Gallagher in Greece via Summer Lovers (1982)? Don’t bother raising your hand (or another part of your anatomy) since this is a rhetorical question. Of course, we can’t forget to mention Ryan Schwartz’s rom-com Summer of 8 (2016). When eight high school grads find themselves on the last day of summer vacation before they head off to college, they go to the beach and have one last blow out. As the day (and night) goes on, each confronts their fears for the future and their great memories of the past since this may be the last time Aiden (Michael Grant), Bobby (Nick Marini), Jen (Natalie Hall), Jesse (Carter Jenkins), Lily (Shelley Hennig), Oscar (Matt Shively), Rachel (Rachel DiPillo), and Serena (Bailey Noble) will all be together at the same time. Because most of this movie takes place at a beach, the comely cast members don’t wear a whole lot of clothes. Mr. Jenkins, Mr. Grant, and Mr. Marini have a handful of scenes where they hang out shirtless in just their board shorts while they talk, walk, surf, swim, and pensively reflect. As you can guess, these young studs are so hot, they steam up the camera lens!
