The Black Phone (2022)

Set in 1978, this supernatural horror film follows brother and sister Finney (Mason Thames) and Gwen Blake (Madeleine McGraw) who live with their widowed, alcoholic father in a suburb of Denver. A serial child killer named The Grabber is terrorizing their area and while Gwen is having weird psychic dreams about the abductions, Finney ends up being taken by him. He’s locked in a basement with a seemingly disconnected black phone that Finney can use to hear the voices of The Grabber’ s past victims. Ethan Hawke gives a sinister performance as the killer, but even more deadly is the pair of killer pecs he sports while sitting motionless in a kitchen chair wearing a creepy mask. Even as the villain, we’re ready to eat up Ethan!
