El Dia de la Bestia (1995), or The Day of the Beast, is pretty much a case of getting exactly what you pay for. This Spanish and Italian co-production dabbles in the world of exploitation and end-of-the-world hysteria that ran wild around the turn of the century! Father Ángel Berriartúa (Álex Angulo) is headed from Madrid to Rome in a state of panic over a numerological discovery he's made in the bible. Convinced that he knows the key to preventing the birth of the antichrist and the plunging of society into darkness for a millennium, the good father must now team up with a Death Metal enthusiast (Santiago Segura) and an Italian occultist and TV show host (Armando De Razza) to attempt to commit every mortal sin possible in hopes of luring the beast his way. It's basically Father Karras' struggle from The Exorcist made quite literal, taking the demon into himself in hopes of destroying it that way. Of course, we know how that ended for poor Father Karras, namely at the bottom of those treacherous stairs in Georgetown. Fingers crossed that things turn out better for the good father in this flick than they did for him! As far as nudity in the flick goes, it's played for laughs but we do get a funny frontal shot from an actor known as Pololo, playing the grandfather of the Death Metal fanatic who has breakfast with his grandson while wearing absolutely nothing but a ratty old open robe! This must be The Day of the Beast because it looks like he's already unleashed the beast!
