Harry Styles is talking about gay sex again, folks. When he talks about gay stuff, I listen. We all listen and wait and hope for an admission of some kind. He still hasn't made an admission, but he does sound very excited about the gay sex scenes in his new movie.
He plays a leading role in the highly anticipated new film My Policeman. Michael Grandage directs this adaptation of a novel by Bethan Roberts which is set to be released in theaters in October with streaming available starting November 4 on Amazon Prime. I cannot wait! Why? Because there is sex in it - specifically there is gay sex.
Harry Styles has sex scenes in My Policeman with another man and he describes the sex as "emotional lovemaking". He went into detail about that and said that we won't just be seeing some thrusting. He is excited to show the world some tender love. “So much of gay sex in film is two guys going at it, and it kind of removes the tenderness from it,” Styles opened up. “There will be, I would imagine, some people who watch it who were very much alive during this time when it was illegal to be gay, and [director Michael] wanted to show that it’s tender and loving and sensitive.”
He told Rolling Stone: “I think everyone, including myself, has your own journey with figuring out sexuality and getting more comfortable with it. It’s not like ‘This is a gay story about these guys being gay.’ It’s about love and about wasted time to me.” WAIT, OKAY. Including you, Harry?!? Can you figure out that sexuality and let us know? I'm not trying to push anyone beyond what they are comfortable with, but oh how I wish for Harry to come out as gay or bi or wanting to specifically have sex with me. Is that too much to ask?
I am excited about the film and I am excited about Harry's career. I also think it's interesting just how into this film he seems to be. He is very passionate about showcasing male passion.
I am not sure I agree with everything that Harry Styles is saying here. Sure, a lot of mainstream movies that have gay sex scenes show them as being very aggressive rather than tender - if they show them at all. A lot of Hollywood or big-budget movies kind of skim over gay sex in favor of showing two men making out or something. I'm looking at you, Brokeback Mountain.
Still, there are plenty of good examples of gay sex in movies, and not every sex scene has to be passionate and tender. Some of us enjoy watching characters straight up screw each other. I think there's room for everything under the gay sex scene rainbow. My only real request is that we actually see nudity. I will be pretty disappointed if Harry talks up all of this passion and we only see two guys' nipples. Come on, Harry. Don't gaybait and nudebait!
