The trailer for the upcoming film The History of Sound dropped this week, which features our favorite young actors canoodling together. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this summer to rave reviews, and it stars two hotties, Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor, as lovers. What can we expect from this upcoming queer film? And will there be hot gay sex?! Let's learn more!
The plot follows a young music student in 1917 who meets another young man at the Boston Conservatory. The aspiring musicians bond over their shared love of folk music. They go on a journey together through Maine to collect folk songs in the woods, but this little trip deepens their appreciation of one another. A love affair blooms, which is music to my ears!

This new film comes to us from director Oliver Hermanus, written by Ben Shattuck, and it is based on an award-winning short story. This tender queer story is important to everyone involved. The director said that the film has been living with him for five years and he is ready to release it to the world. He released a statement that said, “The History of Sound is not simply the story of queer lives hidden due to a time of denial, of shame and secrecy. It is the story of a man’s life, expressed through the power of sound — as memory, as emotion… As family.”
The film is ultimately about love, showcasing and celebrating the love between two men. This film is specifically about the love between two of the acting world's sexiest men working today. I can get behind that story! I celebrate these two men and the potential for their nudity in this upcoming film.
And I do have high hopes for these two! Both Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor have gone incredibly nude in several films. Paul Mescal is SO hot right from his debut nudity in Normal People to his muscle-baring role in the new Gladiator II.
Josh O'Connor, however, has gone the extra mile with his gay scenes. He got our attention for his literal roll in the hay in the British queer film God's Own Country. We thanked God for that booty and cock in this defining role. He went back to queer vibes when he starred in last summer's hit film Challengers. He played a bisexual tennis player who oozed sexual chemistry with both of his co-stars. Josh knows how to play sexy like no one else!
This is why I am so excited to check out Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor together. These guys have chemistry with everyone, and they go nude so often that it's as if wearing clothes is annoying to them. They seem so free and easy going naked onscreen. So what will they do together? I can't wait to find out.
