The summer’s heating up, and we’re not just talking about the weather! On August 4th, what could very well be the steamiest film of the season, if not the year, is getting a limited release with a wider one to follow.
The film is Passages, a sexy Sundance entry about a gay couple who’s relationship is turned upside down when one of them starts an illicit affair with a female school teacher that was acquired by MUBI and was recently given a rating of NC-17, meaning no one under 17 can see it, even with a guardian.While Passages filmmaker Ira Sachs isn’t happy with this antiquated response to what he considers non-gratuitous queer sex scenes, we admit it makes us even more curious to see what stars Ben Whishaw and Franz Rogowski have in store.
