Who was the black private dick that’s a sex machine to all the chicks? The answer is Richard Roundtree, the original portrayer of John Shaft, who passed away at age 81.

He’ll always be remembered for his 1971 film debut as the “cat who won’t cop out when there’s danger all about” - the baddest, sexiest brother who kicked off the Blaxploitation era of the silver screen and became a cultural sensation.

The blockbuster film Shaft, which garnered Mr. Roundtree a Golden Globe nomination - as well as an Oscar for Best Original Song - spawned two sequels and a television series all starring the iconic actor. And it was one of those sequels, 1973’s Shaft in Africa, that we finally got to see Richard’s super fly and super fine ass.

While we get lots of nice shots of his beautiful black buns, he keeps his dick private. But throughout his decades-long career, from his role in the famous television miniseries Roots to his recent appearance in the Jane Fonda-Lily Tomlin comedy Moving On, we never stopped wanting to see Shaft’s shaft, and sadly now will never will. But will we be consoling ourselves by watching his bare booty?

Ya damn right.
