We're not quite sure what the singer Shawn Mendes was doing at the Oscars this past weekend, but when it comes to Shawn Mendes appearances, we operate on a don't ask, don't tell basis. Who are we to question the presence of this God among men on the Oscars red carpet? Shawn Mendes is the camera's best friend, and looks like a million bucks in his fitted tux. Plus he's sporting a deep tan that somehow makes him even dreamier.
But that's just half of the story. The folks at Vanity Fair followed Shawn around as he got ready for his Oscars red carpet stroll. We had a hunch that the footage of this momentous occasion - available on the Vanity Fair YouTube channel - might possibly maybe feature a gratuitous shirtless shot of Shawn. And. It. Does.

We know from his documentary that Shawn Mendes can come up with all kinds of excuses to go shirtless on camera. He opens his documentary - Shawn Mendes: In Wonder - with a completely unnecessary (but at the same time, absolutely crucial?) shower scene. Lightning does indeed strike twice, because in the Vanity Fair video, the camera captures Shawn's gorgeous shirtless bod as he changes for the big night!
How do you even get a body like that? (And don't you dare tell us diet and exercise! We've tried. Sorta. Not really.) The point is that Gay Gawd spent a little more time on Shawn Mendes, and we're all better for it.
