Babylon (2014)

Thanks to British TV, dramedy fans on both sides of the pond got to enjoy the small screen series Babylon (2014), not to be confused with Hotel Babylon (2006-2009) starring Max Beesley and Emma Pierson. This arresting show follows the comings and goings of London’s trigger-happy police force. Working overtime to reshape their less than positive image is New Scotland Yard’s publicity maven Liz Garvey (Brit Marling), Mia Conroy (Ella Smith), and their slimy colleague Finn Kirkwood (Bertie Carvel). Did we mention newcomer Daniel Kaluuya plays documentary filmmaker Matt Coward? The cast of characters also includes the caustic police commissioner Sir Richard Miller (James Nesbitt) and his righthand man Charles Inglis (Paterson Joseph) who is tiring of playing second fiddle. Walking the beat is the sympathetic Officer Warwick Collister (Nick Blood) and rookie law enforcer Robbie Vas (Adam Deacon) who feels a real sense of power by being part of a tactical unit. There’s also frisky friskers PC Tony Forbes (Stuart Martin) and PC Paul “Nobbo” Norrington (Owain Arthur). Plus, the Deputy Mayor of London (Ralph Brown). While the men in blue are quick to flash their pistols, so is Glyn Pritchard. As Ollie, the skintastic actor goes bottomless in the pilot episode directed by Danny Boyle. Just 2 minutes into the show, the hapless dude bares his buns during a comical scene when the police bust in. Before and after being tasered, Mr. Pritchard shows off his pubes, cock and balls. Needless to say, it looks like he’s packing some heat!
