Brideshead Revisited (2008)

Roughly based on Evelyn Waugh’s novel of the same name, Brideshead Revisited (2008) tells the story of Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode), a middle class Oxford scholar that yearns to be an artist, but instead studies history. While at school, Charles befriends the wealthy Lord Sebastian Flyte (Ben Whishaw), a flamboyant gay man and heavy drinker. When Sebastian brings his new friend home to meet his nanny, the wannabe artist becomes enthralled with the residents and grandeur of Brideshead. Charles eyes Sebastian’s sister Julia (Hayley Atwell), leading to a romance and the eventual end of the college buddies friendship, due to Sebastian’s jealousy. The Flyte family dislikes Charles and tells him his no longer welcome at Brideshead, abruptly ending his romance with Julia. As years go by, a married Julia crosses paths with her banished beau on an ocean liner, briefly rekindling their love affair. During WWII, Charles, an army officer, heads back to Brideshead, now a military base, where the disillusioned man confronts the uneasiness of life. The skin is skimpy in this movie remake. Goode and Whishaw show their bums in a disappointing skinny dipping sequence. It’s brief, but the Brits’ bodies will have your brideshead hard.
