Chungking Express (1994)

Chungking Express is a revered 1994 indie romantic comedy that lives on decades after its release thanks to its unique take on lost love. In fact while Chungking Express is considered to be a romance, the movie is more about the aftermath of romance. Chungking Express tells two different stories starring two different leads. The first tale stars Takeshi Kaneshiro as a man reeling from the loss of his lover May. She dumped him, but he's not giving up hope. In fact he decides to wait a full month in hopes that May will change her mind. His patience and hope are symbolized by the can of pineapples he purchases every day. Pineapple is May's favorite food, and the can he purchases has an expiration date of May 1st - the day that marks a full month from when she dumped him. It's this kind of quirky detailing that makes Chungking Express the classic it is today. The second story stars Tony Chiu-Wai Leung as yet another man tending to his broken heart. His flight attendant girlfriend took off, leaving him with a broken heart. But fear not for Tony! A cute woman named Faye falls for Tony, and their adorable story ends Chungking Express on a happy note. But what about the sextastic Mr. Man action, you might ask. And we'll tell you! Both Takeshi and Tony are super cuties, but it's Tony who takes the hotness cake here. He strips down to his tighty whities and shows off his yummy bulge while casually going about his business! Tony will please your boloney pony!
