This thriller is a dramatization of the offshore drilling rig, Deepwater Horizon, which exploded in the spring of 2010, causing the largest oil spill in the history of the United States. The film follows the workers on the rig and the executives who ignored safety concerns to avoid delays. The film was nominated for a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Dramatic Movie in 2017.
