Emma's Bliss (2006)

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and then you’ll cry again while watching the tragic rom-com Emma’s Bliss (2006), not to be confused with the British rom-com Emma. (2020). Based on Claudia Schreiber’s novel Emmas Glück, this German flick follows Max (Jürgen Vogel), a used car salesman who learns that he is terminally ill with the big C. Not wanting to spend the rest of his life hawking automobiles, he steals 70,000 euros from his boss Hans Hilfinger (Martin Feifel). If that’s not ballsy enough, Max also takes Mr. Hilfinger’s Jaguar and heads to the countryside. Needless to say, the enraged boss is hot on Max’s tail. After crashing Hans’s car, Max is saved by pig farmer Emma (Jördis Triebel). She’s kind to her animals and kind to Max. And, as you can expect, the two form a romantic attachment. But what happens when she finds out he has pancreatic cancer? Or, when he finds out that she stole his stolen money to pay off her debts? Let’s just say that even though things look bleak for the characters on screen, you’re likely to enjoy a happy ending due to various views of Mr. Vogel’s nudity! In other words, grab a box of tissues because this tearjerker will have you jerking when you get a load of a blanket-clad Jürgen showing off his long dong on the farm. E-I-E-I-Oh my! Best of all, Max serves up his buns to his lady love over a romantic dinner. Obviously, Emma’s not the only one feeling blissful!
