George Kennedy was a hardworking hunk who began acting when he was just two! Once grown, the all-American guy enlisted in the army during World War II. After serving under George S. Patton, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge, and earning two Bronze Stars, Captain Kennedy played a military policeman on The Phil Silvers Show (1956-1959). During the 1960s, George scored guest spots on TV series (Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Ironside) and a recurring role on McHale's Navy (1963-1964). Later, the boob tube babe played Carter McKay on the CBS hit Dallas (1988-1991). In between, George could be seen in the big screen comedies The Naked Gun (1988) and The Naked Gun 2½ (1991) as well as Naked Gun 33+1⁄3 (1994). Although he’s known for these parodies, Kennedy made more disaster movies (The Flight of the Phoenix, Airport, Airport 1975, Airport ’77, The Concorde...Airport ’79, Earthquake). The prolific performer also popped up in Westerns (The Ballad of Josie, Bandolero!, Guns of the Magnificent Seven, Shenandoah) and murder mysteries (Charade, Death on the Nile). When it comes to George’s thrillers (The Boston Strangler, Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte), we’re thrilled with his naked turn in Zig Zag (1970) since he exposes his bare back and robust rump! Mr. Kennedy died in 2016, but he secured his cinematic legacy in 1967 when he co-starred in the war classic The Dirty Dozen; Otto Preminger’s drama Hurry Sundown; and the prison flick Cool Hand Luke, for which he won an Oscar! Our pants are giving him a standing ovation!
