Irish eyes (and other parts of the anatomy) are smiling on the Emerald Isle dramedy Handsome Devil (2016), not to be confused with the Spanish horror flick Dance With the Devil (1997), the American thriller The Devil’s Advocate (1997), or the British biopic Love Is the Devil (1998) featuring a naked Daniel Craig. Instead, this coming of age pic follows a teenaged outcast named Ned Roche (Fionn O’Shea) who attends a fictional all-boys boarding school where rugby rules. As luck would have it, nerdy Ned must share his room with the school’s star athlete Conor Masters (Nicholas Galitzine). Suffice it to say, he’s one handsome devil! Even though a friendship between the opposite lads seems unlikely, one develops anyway. While the two begin to bond, we encounter Dan Sherry (Andrew Scott), Pascal O’Keeffe (Moe Dunford), and Walter Curly (Michael McElhatton). Based on the real life experiences of the film’s director and screenwriter John Butler, this authentic story touches on themes of hypocrisy, snobbery, and homosexuality. As you can guess, Mr. Man prefers the latter! For example, he appreciates the shot of a topless Mr. Galitzine. In fact, the hot hunk steams up the screen when he takes a shower since the skintastic act showcases his wet pecs and bare back. Nice student body! But just when we thought we’d see more, the aptly-named Weasel (Ruairi O’Connor) barges in to ask Conor about his friendship with Ned. Really dude? Quit with the questions and join in on the naked shower. That’s the answer!
