Where does a baseball player go on the downswing of his major league career? The Chicago White Sox? No. The minor leagues? No. They go to Japan, such is the case with Jack Elliott (Tom Selleck) in the comedy Mr. Baseball (1992). Although Jack was a one-time MVP for the New York Yankees, he is now struggling to maintain a respectable batting average. With a new hotshot player coming up to take his spot on the roster, Jack gets traded to the Chunichi Dragons in Japan. Jack’s unwillingness to accept the Japanese culture, mixed with his inflexibility to accept his less-than-favorable position on his new team, leads to hilariously awkward scenarios, including a ball-flashing, butt-baring shower scene in the locker room that also allows us a look at Dennis Haysbert’s buns. That’s some MVP ass!
