Spy Games (1999)

The chilly metropolis of Helsinki, Finland, is a natural setting for a tale of post Cold War intrigue, a locale taken full advantage of by History is Made at Night (1999). Since laughter, particularly when elicited by sex comedy, is a better warming force than drama, History is Made at Night is liberally sprinkled with light gags and sauna flirtations. Bill Pullman pulls his most fetching straight face as a CIA op, and French-bred sweetmeat Irène Jacob is an enticing blend of bluster and fluster as Pullman’s KGB counterpart. The sparks of romance are never far from the screen when these two agents share a scene. Pullman will have you pulling your man with his naked sprint and lusty leap into an icy lake. The lengthy shot of Bill’s fit bottom is just enough to fit the bill.
