The Beach (2000)

Young Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio) is bored with his life, so he decides it’s a good idea to head to Thailand for a change of scenery.  He’s given a map to The Beach (2000) a secluded paradise, a tropical nirvana according to rumors.  Richard recruits some other travelers to accompany him on his quest, but will the beach and the island it surrounds prove to be idyllic or something much more sinister?

An island paradise is usually the perfect setting for naked romps and outdoor loving.  Here we’re taken right to the water’s edge, but not allowed to bathe in the glow of glistening flesh.  There are two obscured scenes of Leo getting frisky.  The first is on a bed, but mosquito netting is in the way and then he’s making out with a French woman in the dark tropical surf.  The beach may be lovely, but more Leo would have made it paradise.
