The Idol (2023)

The Idol is the series of summer 2023, and is HBO's most controversial show since Euphoria. Everyone is talking about The Idol, and now so are we thanks to Karl Glusman's surprising nude scene in the fourth episode! So what is The Idol about? Lily-Rose Depp, in her breakout role, plays a pop star named Jocelyn who suffers from substance abuse and mental illness. Like some real celebrities, Jocelyn's personal problems lead her to a cult-ish figure. She strikes up a volatile sexual relationship with Tedros, played by singer The Weeknd. His devotees think Tedros can do no wrong, but the few people remaining in Jocelyn's life who have her best interest in mind warn her about Tedros - who among other things has an extensive criminal record. Jocelyn is just a YOLO type of girlie, however, and sticks it out with Tedros. Throughout the first four episodes of The Idol, Tedros exerts his control over Jocelyn in some ways that riled up the show's detractors, including by spanking her at a dinner party. He would. For as naked as Lily-Rose Depp gets in The Idol (which is very naked) we had to wait until episode four for male nudity.
