The Liberator (2013)

Venezuelan folk hero Simon Bolivar gets the biopic treatment with The Liberator (2013). In the early 19th Century, Bolivar (Edgar Ramírez) fought over 100 battles against the Spanish army in a bid for freedom and independence, with a military career that spanned nearly 30 years. During this time, he never sought to conquer anyone, but rather to liberate those who were similarly oppressed by the Spanish. Throughout the course of the film, Bolivar is presented as the legend that he was to his people, romanticized but never idolized. And speaking of romanticizing, Edgar Ramírez shows off his hunky upper body in scenes of poke and post-poke. Wish Ramírez would’ve liberated more skin in the process.
