Absolute 90s cutie Sean Sasser is an important activist, educator, and young hot man that everyone should get educated on. Respect your elders, kids! He was born and raised in Detroit and wanted to study archeology, but his plans were dashed when he discovered that he was HIV positive at only nineteen. He was devastated by this for a long time before he decided to help spread awareness of the disease. It was shortly after this newfound purpose in life that he decided to go to a Lesbian and Gay March on Washington in 1993 and he introduced himself to the man that would become his partner and the reason we all know him today. Sean is most famous for appearing on episodes of The Real World: San Francisco in the early 90s with his relationship with cast member and AIDS activist Pedro Zamora. He was not an actual cast member on the show, but this tender relationship became a central plot of the season and they even had the first gay commitment ceremony depicted on TV with the two exchanging vows and everything. This had never been shown on TV before and it definitely made herstory. Sadly, Pedro died in 1994, leaving Sean to keep his legacy going even as he began working as a pastry chef at the Ritz Carlton, continuing to spread their message of love and awareness everywhere that he went. Sean eventually remarried in June of 2013 to his partner Michael Kaplan, but he also passed away shortly after that due to mesothelioma.
