Although Darren Dupree Washington was born in Philadelphia he grew up in Australia when, at the age of two, his family moved there. He was such a good athlete he actually considered dropping out of high school to become a professional tennis player. Instead, he stayed in school, eventually attending Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Arts where he earned a degree in Performing Arts. After appearing in a number of commercials he started landing small parts in TV shows and movies which prompted him to make the move to Los Angeles so he could pursue acting full time.
