I am so happy with how many gay movies there are in pop culture. The market has some truly moving, game-changing, and gorgeous films that tell gay stories. But have you noticed that a lot of them end in tragedy? And the ones that don't tend to be too squeaky clean? Well, that's why I'm here. Here are HOT gay movies that don't have sad endings:
Fire Island
Let's start strong with a hilarious film on Hulu that you can stream right now. Comedian Joel Kim Booster wrote this modern gay adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Talk about a perfect match! Joel also stars in it as the lovelorn lead who is having fun with his friends on Fire Island where they meet a group of super-wealthy gays to party with.
Tensions rise - but pants do, too! Pants also come off as Zane Phillips demonstrates in this scene:
Maurice
This underrated 1987 film is very sweet. Maurice, Clive, and Alec were young men studying at Cambridge where they learned to study each other's bods. A love triangle forms between men in the early 1900s where some characters, such as Clive, are scared of their sexuality. The others, like Maurice, buck the norms and love men freely. Maurice is played by James Wilby with Hugh Grant as Clive and Rupert Graves as Alec.
The movie ends in an adorable way! The boys confess their feelings for one another and wind up together after Alec abandons his plans with his family to be with Maurice. He tells him, "Now we shan't never be parted". I'm weeping with joy!
Beautiful Thing
This 1996 film follows Scott Neal as a jock named Ste who has a troubled home life. He is offered a safe place to stay with a fellow football player named Jamie. Jamie is a loner who doesn't love to play football, so now the two are rooming together...and sharing a bed. Their crushes on each other grow and we even get to see Scott Neal's ass. What a beautiful thing!
Bros
Billy Eichner received a lot of press and a lot of praise for his raunchy, hilarious, and hot romantic comedy. This film will have you laughing a lot which already makes it a good movie to watch if you don't want to deal with gay tragedy for Pride Month. This is the first gay rom com backed by a major studio which means that a major studio funded this orgy scene:
Not only is there a group sex scene, but there is also some sensual toe-sucking with Luke MacFarlane. And a whole lot more! Bro out with the boys in Bros!
Red, White Royal Blue
The hottest film from last summer is this cheesy, cheeky romantic comedy that had us horny and laughing. Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine play two men who are both the sons of world leaders - one is the US president's son and the other is a British prince. They give a whole new meaning to foreign diplomacy when they fall in love!
