Biography

J.B. Smoove (aka Jerry Angelo Brooks) is a comedian, writer, actor, and smoove criminal that hails from North Carolina, though he spent plenty of time in Mount Vernon, New York. J.B. got his start in the early 1990s on Def Comedy Jam, honing his craft as a standup comedian throughout the 90's and slinging jokes in all sorts of comedy clubs. Shortly after gaining some traction in the industry, he changed his name to J.B. Smoove, which really encapsulates his silky smooth voice and rippling, even-toned skin. After making a name for himself onstage, starting in 2003 J.B. was a writer on SNL, performing bit roles in sketches that needed a long and lean black man, and getting an Emmy as part of the writing team. While his best sketch ideas were deemed a bit too wild for SNL, there's no question that was their loss. But just when it looked like J.B. was going to be content writing, doing standup and appearing in small roles like when he played the elevator man Reuben in Mr. Deeds (2002), in 2007 J.B. blew up as Larry David's new buddy Leon Black in the sixth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. That one made J.B. a star, but other small screen roles from J.B. included barbershop owner Manny on Everybody Hates Chris, the voice of a literal marker on Woke, and Ray on the CBS sitcom The Millers, while on the big screen J.B. has been Mr. Dell in the Spider-Man movies, Julio in The Sitter (2011), Angelo in Uncle Drew (2018) and Lyndell in On the Count of Three (2021). The only time we saw J.B.'s smooth body came when he did a bit of shirtlessness on The Millers. Does J.B. need a BJ?
