It’s being reported that The Banshees of Inisherin’s Barry Keoghan might be joining Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel starring Aftersun’s Paul Mescal. And since it also happens to be St. Patrick’s Day, what better time to see how these two recent Oscar nominees and fellow natives of the Emerald Isle stack up against each other when it comes to on screen nudity?
The rumor is Barry will play Roman Emperor Geta opposite Paul’s now grown up Lucius, son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) and nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). History details that Geta’s father was a governor under Commodus so perhaps there’ll be some animosity in the film regarding Geta’s rise to power over Lucius that will cause the two Irishmen to clash.
It’s a pretty fair match up considering they’re only four years apart in age, with Barry coming from Dublin and Paul hailing from nearby County Kildare. Career-wise, though Barry’s had a good nine years of acting credits over Paul, having started around 2010, while Pauldidn’t debut on screen until 2019.
But let’s get to the nude scenes. Upon comparing, they’re actually quite similar. Both lads have nude shower scenes where they bare their buns.

Really the only difference is Barry’s nude scenes come from one film, Mammal, while Paul has both Normal People and Aftersun. But the good news is both men are young, talented, and super hot - in looks and in popularity right now - so the chances are good that more skin-tastic nude scenes are coming our way faster than we can say “Top o’ the mornin’ to ya!”
