2020 has admittedly been a weird year...for movies. See what I did there! Luckily, one of the new films that didn't end up getting delayed until movie theaters were open and safe is The Boys in the Band. The Boys in the Band is now on Netflix and it boasts an all-star cast of actually gay actors - the hottest gay actors in the industry and in The Ryan Murphy Ensemble (my name for actors who continually appear in his work). The remake is SO good and very faithful to the script, but this made me want to revisit the other film version from 1970. So which is better: remake or original? Let's investigate!

The 1970 film version stars Broadway legend Kenneth Nelson as Michael, the man hosting the party for his friend Harold is played by Leonard Frey. Their closest friends, an eclectic group of gay men in New York City, come together to celebrate. Things get complicated when Michael's straight college friend drops by. This movie has secrets, lies, and sexy guys! Now the 1970s were not exactly great about showing gay male scenes, but Frederick Combs (Donald) showers and shows his tan-lined tush.

That tush isn't bad for the 1970s! The 2020 versiondoes that and more by giving us Matt Bomer's booty AND his cock in his shower scene in which this version's Michael, Jim Parsons, checks him out oh so subtly.

That's not all! Bernard has a flashback and we get to see a pivotal coming-of-age sexual awakening scene for him when he was a teen. Alpha Miknas plays the teen version of him as he dives into the pool with nude Mark Thomas Young. Both of these young men make their nude debut with thisbeautifully shot underwater scene.

This scene is a huge plus for the remake, as is young Charlie Carver who plays the adorable cowboy. Charlie never goes nude, but he's so darn attractive that we would gladly watch him in a tight T-shirt forever and a day. PLUS Andrew Rannells and real-life boy toy Tuc Watkins makeout and start getting frisky. Enjoy the watch because it might help you decide which version you like more:
