If you were a fan of Sense8, then you might remember that the Netflix seriesfeatureda lineup of some of the most gorgeous men to ever grace the dude tube. Now thatwe've jogging your memory, you might also remember that Sense8 showcased the aforementioned men in multiple sensual orgies. And you gold star Mr. Man readers mighttttttt recall a certain gorgeousactornamed Brian J. Smith, who played a hunky pansexual Chicago police officer on Sense8.
WELL. The truly stunningBrian J. Smith just came out as gay in Attitude Magazine, where he opens up about the difficulties of growing up closeted in suburban Texas:
I was terrified. At school I really couldn’t fit in anywhere. I wasn’t a jock or a nerd. Forget about any [LGBTQ+] union or groups. There was absolutely nothing. I was completely alone. I heard all the names: p—-, f—–.
I could never be who I was. I was constantly having to check myself and make sure I wasn’t looking at someone too long or making someone feel uncomfortable.
Brian adds that while he's spent decades grappling with his sexuality, he can also channel the intense emotionsinto his acting:
I had to be very, very careful about telling people the truth about myself. It still reverberates. A lot of my work is about that. The things that move me as an actor are those echoes that come up.
