Shaft was a monumental film that brought he Black Power Movement and black political issues to a mainstream audience in a kickass way. Richard Roundtree played the bad mother himself in a role that has since been played by Samuel L. Jackson in a remake. Richard and Samuelhave joined forces in thelatest Shaft film withJessie T. Usher to play three generations of Shafts, so we thought we'd celebrate this film by taking a look at the grand-zaddy of the sexy streetwise character. #TBT toRichard Roundtree and his nudity.

Richard started his career playing football at Southern Illinois University but was soon scouted to be a model. It's no wonder why. He was a handsome man! From there he took acting classes and starred in musicals in New York before being cast in the legendary 1971 film, Shaft.

Richard didn't show much skin until 1973' Shaft in Africa which was the third Shaft film. In it, Shaft is kidnapped and brought to Africa in order to put a stop to a human trafficking ring.Did we see Shaft's shaft? Sadly, no. However, Roundtree turns around to show his trunk several times. Look at that round rump!

After Shaft, Richard tried to distance himself from the role so that he wasn't typecast as a black action hero. He ended up starring in some soap operas before finding his groove in TV sitcoms and dramas like Heroes and Chicago Fire. We were excited to see him return to his original role in the Shaft film, but we really wouldn't mind finally see his - watch your mouth!
