Ayar (2021)

Ayar (2021) is a film which takes its name from the main character of the film, played by Ariana Ron Pedrique. Ayar is a first generation Mexican American immigrant who had to leave her young daughter behind when she moved to America to establish herself and create a life worth bringing her into north of the border. Just as Ayar is stable and ready to bring her young daughter to America with her, traveling to Mexico to see her daughter and her mother Renata (Vilma Vega), the COVID crisis hits and Renata decides she doesn't want the life of young Jasmine (Calliah Sophie Estrada) to be endangered just to get to the United States where things aren't any better (under the circumstances) than they are in Mexico. Ayar must now second guess every decision she's ever made as a mother, not to mention her own mother Renata having to do some introspection and reflection on her own decisions as a mother and as a human being. It's the sort of introspective film that doesn't grab everyone, but a lot of people really latch on to as they wrestle with the drama of every day human life. In one of the film's sexiest flashback sequences, we get a good look at Simon Haycock's bare ass, but sadly we don't say Hey, cock to Simon! While it looks like there might be a frame or two of haycock in the scene with leading lady Ariana Ron Pedrique, but it's probably just a shadow.
