Spring Awakening: Those You've Known (2022)

The groundbreaking musical Spring Awakening was a landmark piece of entertainment for many reasons, not least of which it was the show that made Jonathan Groff a star! In 2021, the original cast reunited on Broadway for a one night only performance of the show to benefit the Actor's Fund and this experience was documented in the film Spring Awakening: Those You've Known (2022) which debuted on HBO Max in the Spring of 2022. The doc tells the story of the show's inception, its original run at Atlantic Theatre Company in 2006 before it moved to Broadway that winter and eventually became a phenomenon. At the climax of the show's first act, there is a sex scene between Jonathan Groff's character Melchior and Lea Michele's character Wendla, and we're treated to several shots of Groff's bare ass from the original production, both in a filmed performance from 2006 and via a cell phone picture Groff shares early in the doc! Don't be surprised if that causes an Awakening... in your pants!
