Have you ever wondered about the history of nudity in movies, how long it's been around, who started the trend, and when did it peak in popularity? Well, have we got a doc for you! Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies (2020) is a feature length documentary that delivers the skinny on the sordid history of nudity in cinema, from executive producer Jim "Mr. Skin" McBride! The film goes chronologically through history, even before there were such things as "movies" and enterprising men with cameras first put the nude human figure on film. All the way up through the institution of the Hays Code and its strict rules in the mid-30s, nudity was prevalent in Hollywood, with many big stars of the day like Hedy Lamarr, Clara Bow, and Claudette Colbert going nude on film! As we fast forward to the 60s and 70s, we see the beginnings of the MPAA ratings system and the prevalence of nudity on film from then on, all the way up through the present and the Me Too Movement that sent shockwaves through the industry. The film gathers together a bunch of great celebrities and experts for interviews, even showing archival footage of them in the buff! And it's not all ladies, either! There's plenty of men talking nudity and showing off their nude bodies in their prime! Hollywood luminary Malcolm McDowell chats Caligula (1979), while Oscar nominees like Eric Roberts and Bruce Davison talk their respective nude turns in Star 80 (1983) and Last Summer (1969)! These hunks prove that Skin is always in!
