King of the Gypsies (1978)

King of the Gypsies (1978) stars a young Eric Roberts in his prime, playing Dave, the grandson of a gypsy king who inherits the "throne" after his grandfather passes, enraging Groffo (Judd Hirsch) Dave's vengeful father who tries to have his son killed in order to achieve the title he believes is rightfully his. This leads to a climactic confrontation with Dave coming to embrace his legacy and hoping to modernize his tradition-bound family, if his own flesh and blood father doesn't stop him dead first. The film also stars Sterling Hayden, Shelley Winters, Susan Sarandon, Brooke Shields, and Annette O'Toole among others. Julia's brother never looked so scrumptious as he peels of his white shirt, exposing his tightly toned abs, declaring "I'm gonna need a shirt." Guess the one you just shed won't work. His lucky lady fastens a pendant around his bare chest and kisses his shoulder before the two take things in a new, more horizontal direction. All hail the king!
