Because the Bridges are Hollywood royalty, Mr. Man understands how it can sometimes be confusing to keep them all straight. So here’s your 101 Guide: Lloyd is the dad (lots of white hair); Jeff is the younger son (he’s The Dude), and Beau Bridges is the oldest son, and Mr. Man’s man of the moment (but FYI, all three are on Mr. Man). He’s been in tons of huge movies, and just to make sure you’re thinking of the right guy, here’s the quick run-down of his most famous films, many Oscar-winning or Oscar nominated: he played Sonny in the Norma Rae (1979) with Sally Field, Father in The Hotel New Hampshire (1984) with Rob Lowe, Frank Baker in The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989) with brother Jeff and Michelle Pfeiffer, Matt Cusham in Cameron Crowe’s Jerry Maguire (1996) with Tom Cruise, Colonel Muller in Steven Soderbergh’s The Good German (2006) with George Clooney and Cate Blanchett, cousin Hugh in The Descendants (2011) with George again, and Walter in The Mountain Between Us (2017) with Kate Winslet. One of his lesser known films was Sordid Lives (2000), starring Delta Burke, Bonnie Bedalia, Olivia Newton-John, and Beth Grant (Mr. Man includes them all, because they are all fabulous ladies), notable because he’s half-naked, showing off a slightly fuzzy chest, and a huggable frame of squishiness. And lest you think he was only made to impress on the big screen, you should know that’s he’s won three primetime Emmy awards, and been nominated for an additional 12. He won for his roles as James Brady in the TV movie Without Warning: The James Brady Story (1991) (he also won a Golden Globe for this one), as Terry Harper in the TV movie The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom (1993) (another Golden Globe), and for playing James Farley in the mini-seriesThe Second Civil War (1997). His nominations include his parts as Barton Scully in the HBO series Masters of Sex from 2013-2016, Nick Brody in the primetime series Brothers & Sisters in 2011, and Eli Scruggs in Desperate Housewives in 2009.
