Castle Rock (2018-2019)

Hulu's Castle Rock (2018) was an anthology series that noted how so many of Stephen King's stories took place, or gave a shoutout to, a fictional Maine town called Castle Rock and decided it would be interesting to see what life in that fake town would be like. Unsurprisingly, it's creepy AF! Rather than remake some of King's stories, the show imagined that Castle Rock was a real place populated by tons of King's characters who interact with each other every now and again. Season one centered around Pennywise himself, Bill Skarsgard, although in this one he plays a mysterious prisoner known as "The Kid." He was secretly being held in the basement of The Shawshank State Penitentiary, only for the late warden to die and leave behind a note saying that whoever discovers him needs to know he's evil. The Kid calls himself Henry Deaver, which is weird because there's already a Henry Deaver (Andre Holland) in town, and he's a lawyer not a dude in lockdown. Concerned and crept out, Henry will have to reach out to his mom Ruth (Sissy Spacek) for help, even if she's not playing Carrie. Season two was all about future obsessive reader turned kidnapper Annie Wilkes (Lizzy Caplan), who is only a mentally disturbed nurse at this point in life. She'll find out the town has a bad vampire problem, which came about in part because of The Kid's actions way, way back. After that, King fans had to look to the bajillions of movie adaptations for their King fix, since this one never saw a third season. It's a shame because there were some pretty sweet skin scenes in Steve's fake coastal town. David Alpay was a bit sacrilegious bouncing some babe on his unit in a messed-up church. We only see his abs, but are more than happy to imagine ourselves in her position. The scene that had us super disappointed was when we thought we saw Bill Skarsgard's buns, only to end up having been duped. The dude we've wanted to do It (2017) with for years? Bummer! Let's put on a Pennywise mask, because we're the clowns here. Oh well, whoever's ass that was in Castle Rock had us rock hard anyways!
