Danny Boyle's new series Pistol is now streaming in its entirety, so you can get really into the punk spirit by watching this show. Anson Boon plays John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten and he does an amazing job at it. Neither Anson nor John Lydon has ever gone nude which is downright rotten, but the other guys have! Most of The Sex Pistols showed skin. Let's see how the actors compare to their actually naked counterparts.
Toby Wallace plays Steve Jones and Toby is the only one to really go nude in the series. He shows his ass twice - once in a sex scene with Sydney Chandler (playing rocker chick Chrissie Hynde) and again when he moons people at an airport. Toby is doing a great job going nude - just like the man that he is supposed to play.
Steve Jones shows his ass, balls, and penis in the movie The Great Rock-N-Roll Swindle directed by Julien Temple and released in 1980. He has his dick out in two scenes. It's anarchy...and we love it!
Louis Partridge plays Sid Vicious. Louis has yet to go nude on the show despite having a sex scene where Sid loses his virginity to Nancy Spungeon, but we do not get to see much of anything. Sid, born John Simon Ritchie, was the thin and wild punk rocker who would become very famous for unfortunate reasons. Before he went on trial for stabbing Nancy, he shows his cheeks in a little thong.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster plays Malcolm McLaren. Malcolm was the manager of the shop and provocateur who worked with Vivienne Westwood in their clothing shop to costume punk bands that they essentially put together and managed. Malcolm was a mastermind of sorts who orchestrated a lot of the punk rock movement in the UK in the 70s. Isn't that wild that the pivotal punk bands of the 70s were basically put together like the boy bands in the 90s? It really makes you think!
Anyway, Thomas Brodie-Sangster is SO good in this role. He's funny and he's kind of sexy with his thick accent and punk rock attitude. Does he look familiar to you? He's been acting for a long time and he had a sexy role as the cowboy chess whiz on The Queen's Gambit. He only went shirtless in that series, so I am hoping that his next big move is taking off his pants. Checkmate? More like I'm checking you out, mate.
Thomas has yet to show us what is below his belt, but Malcolm actually did. The super-involved punk band manager took a bath in The Great Rock-N-Roll Swindle and he opens his legs in the bath to show us his cock and balls. When The Sex Pistols said "nevermind the bullocks", they must not have been talking about their own bullocks. I am VERY about those!
