García! (2022)

Imagine if the exact set-up for Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) wasn't played for laughs and the super spy getting frozen is closer in stature to Captain America. You'd get the HBO Max Original Spanish series ¡García!, where the titular bio-enhanced super spy—played by Francisco Ortiz—is created in the 1950s, cryogenically frozen in the 60s, and thawed out in the present day, or late 2022 when the show first aired. Antonia (Veki Velilla) is a reporter in a lightly fictionalized version of Madrid on the brink of financial collapse, who follows a thread that leads her to the origins of a secret super spy program created in the early days of the Cold War. Unfreezing García, Antonia hopes that he can be the spark that lights the fire that burns the whole rotten system down. He's definitely got the ass for it, that's for sure, as Francisco Ortiz shows us in the debut episode when he's unfrozen in the customary clothes off fashion for science fiction.
