Like a shooting rocket, Gary Brockette enjoyed a brief but flashy time among the stars. The talented Texan was as all-American as apple pie and baseball. And oh, how Mr. Man wishes he could have rounded the bases with Mr. Brockette. Gary hit it big early on in his career when he was cast as Bobby Sheen in Peter Bogdanovich’s critically-acclaimed drama The Last Picture Show (1971). The R-rated flick features Jeff Bridges, Cybill Shepherd, Timothy Bottoms, Ellen Burstyn, Cloris Leachman, Sam Bottoms, Eileen Brennan, and Gary’s nude debut! During a skinny-dipping scene, Brockette makes a splash when he bares his abs, ass, shaft and sack! No wonder the coming-of-age classic made audience members come! Since then, the dark-haired hottie’s flame began to fizzle on screen. But by 1984, Gary could be seen in the science fiction films The Philadelphia Experiment and The Ice Pirates. Speaking of pirates, Brockette popped up in Sirens of the Caribbean (2007). Also known as as Bad Girl Island, the B movie stars AnnaLynne McCord, Antonio Sabato Jr. and James Brolin. Alas, the film was to be Gary’s last. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2010. Although the promising performer couldn’t top his early success in The Last Picture Show, he showed fans he could hold his own in comedies such as National Lampoon’s Adam & Eve (2005) and erotic thrillers like Survival Island (2005). Gary also worked behind the camera as an assistant director (Nursie), writer (Deceit), and associate producer (Standing Ovation). Let’s give Gary a hand!
