Almodóvar, who was offered the opportunity to direct Brokeback Mountain all those years ago, has stated that Strange Way of Life is his take on how that film's two main characters would have developed their relationship over the years. It stars Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal, and is given an infusion of unbridled male sensuality thanks to Manu's appearance.
