James Ransone may not be well known by name, but you’ve undoubtedly seen his face—and other body parts, thanks to one of his early acting roles. Playing Tate in the controversial indie film Ken Park (2002), he goes full-frontal in multiple scenes. While he plays a skateboarding teen in the flick, he was actually 23 when the movie came out, which makes ogling him seem a little less lascivious. The controversy from the flick mostly came from a scene where James tethers himself to his bedroom door with a lime-green scarf, and proceeds to choke himself while choking himself, aka masturbatory strangulation. While listening to a woman’s tennis match on TV, he sits pantsless on the floor, bringing his penis to full erection, which is impressive in its size. There’s a final shot of the outcome, oozing from his fingers as he catches his breath. You’ll also see him walk around the house fully naked, eating cake from his hand, and stabbing his grandparents with a butcher knife; that may have also caused controversy. It was a pretty big move for a boy from Baltimore, but one that paid off. A year later, he nabbed the role of Chester “Ziggy” Sobotka in the hit HBO show The Wire. He has since gone on to appear in a few more HBO series and numerous other TV shows and movies. He’s done several horror flicks, including Sinister (2012) and The Black Phone (2021), both with Ethan Hawke, and It Chapter Two (2019). You can also find him in two Spike Lee films, The Inside Man (2006) with Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster and Oldboy (2013) with Sameul L. Jackson and Elizabeth Olsen.
