Born and raised in Ohio, John Magaro is one very good reason why Americans are so fond of the heartland. John appeared as Charles in The Box (2009) with Cameron Diaz, then made a naked splash on the big screen as Douglas in Not Fade Away(2012), showing off a lean frame that brings to mind the phrase “sex on a stick.” He rapidly racked up the movie credits, with roles as Charlie Geller in The Big Short (2015) with Christian Bale; Dannie McElroy in Carol(2015) with Cate Blanchett; Ervin Maske in The Finest Hours (2016) with Chris Pine; Cory Staggart in War Machine (2017) with Brad Pitt; Silvio Dante in The Many Saints of Newark (2021), the HBO prequel film to The Sopranos series; the younger version of Harvey Keitel’s character in Lansky (2021); Detective Chillmark in Call Jane (2022) with Elizabeth Banks; Sean in Showing Up (2022) with Michelle Williams; and Desmond in Heart of a Lion (2023) with Forest Whitaker. And you probably saw John in TV roles like Vince Muccio in Orange Is the New Black from 2015-2019, Roland Hlavin in The Good Wife from 2015-2016, Alan Brockman in Woody Allen’s Crisis in Six Scenes (2016) mini-series and Leonard Peabody in The Umbrella Academy in 2019.
