Last night Matthew Macfadyen indeed won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his role in the star-making series Succession in which he played Tom Wambsgans. Everyone in that series is a top-tier actor. Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Brian Cox. And yet? Matthew was the one who walked away with the gold (as did his co-star and love interest in the show, Sarah Snook). It was a well-deserved win even though Succession was always pretty tame on the nudity front. That doesn't mean, however, that Matthew has always been tame when it came to nudity.
Matthew is one tall glass of water. The 6'3" lad from England took his sophisticated mannerisms and his tall stature straight to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where he began showing off his skills onstage in classic plays.
He was then cast to play Hareton Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights, but he's best known by fans of romance and history for playing Mr. Darcy in the 2005 adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Pride Prejudice. That is one of the most enduring romantic roles in history and Matthew had it on lock. Seriously, has anyone done it better than him since 2005? I think not!
We adored him in the PBS series Any Human Heart in which he was shirtless and showing his hairy chest as he sat up in bed. He did not go nude in Any Human Heart, but his adorable morning-after bedroom eyes did give audiences Any Human Hard On.
He showed his ass in the hit film Frost/Nixon. In Ron Howard's 2008 film, Matthew briefly bore his buns when he ran naked into the ocean. The waves lapped at his calves, his strapping back, and his little booty. The critically acclaimed film boasted a great cast and script, but this bum certainly helped us all enjoy the movie even more. Stay frosty, Matthew's ass!
