Mattia Sbragia has a name we can’t pronounce, but we promise it’s high on our list of priorities, especially after seeing the Italian in the thrilling drama Christie Malry’s Own Double-Entry (2000). What sounds like the title of a porno film is in fact a UK production about a man who uses the principles of double-entry bookkeeping (damn, we thought it was the other double-entry) to settle his accounts with society. Interesting, and even more so when we saw that it’s based on a novel by experimental writer B.S. Johnson, who may have the most suggestive name in all of the avant-garde.
