As far as we’re concerned, Richard Karn is the king of television! After earning a BFA in acting from the University of Washington, the Seattle native headed to the Big Apple. In less than a week, he was hired for a Michelob beer commercial that ran during Super Bowl XIV. Score! Next stop was Scotland for the Edinburgh Arts Festival. But eventually Richard landed in Hollywood, where he landed the part of Al Borland on the long-running ABC sitcom Home Improvement (1991-1999) starring Tim Allen. Since then, Dick popped up on Allen’s other hit series Last Man Standing (2011-2021) in 2013. In addition to appearing in TV movies (A Dog for Christmas, Picture Perfect, The Pooch and the Pauper, Reality School), Mr. Karn has hosted the game shows Family Feud (2002 -2006), Bingo America (2008-2009), Assembly Required (2021), and More Power (2022). He also played the hip dad Fred Peters on Hulu’s coming of age comedy Pen15 (2019-2021) starring Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle. Even though Karn has conquered the small screen, that doesn’t mean he can’t also be seen on the big screen. He portrayed Patrick in the pet-friendly sports comedies Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch (2002), Air Buddies (2006), and Snow Buddies (2008). Dick also exposed his… sense of humor in the PG-13 teen comedy F the Prom (2017). But we prefer his revealing role in Bram Stoker’s Legend of the Mummy (1998). The horror flick features Louis Gossett Jr., Victoria Tennant, and Karn’s hairy chest. Nothing scary about that!
