Ironically, or perhaps symbolically so, the movie where Eddie Redmayne shows the most male nudity is the one where he also has a great many scenes being a woman. Playing Lili in The Danish Girl, the male version of his character rushes into a room, strips bare, and tucks away all things male for a physical transformation to match his emotional one. You can see every inch of Eddie’s impressive body, trim and toned, but not overly muscular. Body double? Nope. That’s all him in the full-frontal moment. The British actor earned a best actor Oscar nomination for his part, as well as a slew of nominations from around the globe. He actually won the gold-man statue for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything (2014), as well as a BAFTA, a SAG, and a Golden Globe. Born in Westminster, London, he started acting from an early age, appearing on stage in London’s West End theatre district. His big-screen debut was playing Alex Forbes in Like Minds (2006) with Toni Collette, followed by the role of Edward Wilson Jr. in The Good Shepherd (2006), directed by Robert De Niro and starring Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie. While some actors fall into the trap of starting out fabulously and fading miserable, Eddie has only gotten better with age, starring in a slew of projects with famous faces and box-office records, Les Misérables (2012) and the Fantastic Beasts movies (2016, 2018, 2022) among them. But it would be a shame not to mention one more: Jupiter Ascending (2015). Starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, Eddie plays an evil outer-space emperor named Balem Abrasax. He earned himself a Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actor—although, really, any movie where Eddie shows his bare buttocks (and he does in this one), should be applauded.
